You know the saying, “When he is good, he is very good. When he is bad, he is horrid”. This saying tells us quite a bit about Mercury/Uranus in the natal. I will explain.
Mercury Conjunct Uranus
In the very close aspects( exact to three degrees), I think this is a very, very difficult aspect. The native will, likely, be brilliant. His brilliance will be an “out of the box” brilliance, like the person who discovered Quantum physics. This person went from ABC to $%$#$%$. In other words, he went from the material world to some world unknown by mortals. The price for this brilliance may be emotional and/mental instability. If the Mercury/Uranus conjunction is four to ten degrees, there is a little breathing room. The person will be brilliant. However, the instability factor will, likely, be reduced many notches.
Mercury Trine/Sextile Uranus
This aspect is the king of these aspects. This aspect confers brilliance without mental instability. We have someone who is “out of the box”, but the box did not roll on top of him and smother him *sigh* I think of Ali G when I think of this aspect, although I don’t know if he has it. He is so brilliantly on the edge, but he does not seem to go over it. This ability to stay balanced is that which the trine confers and the other aspects do not.
Mercury Oppose Uranus
This aspect can make for a difficult mind, albeit a brilliant one. Mercury in hard aspect to Uranus( of which the conjunction is one) makes for an electrically, racing mind. Everyone has experienced a racing mind. However, these natives NEVER get a rest from it. It is very sad. With the opposition, the native may have some ‘down time” from the racing mind. However, he will return to it, due to the cyclical nature of the opposition.
Mercury Square Uranus
Stop, drop and roll. I want to get your attention about just how very, very difficult this aspect is. If you see a close square, such as an exact to a 4 degree square, please be kind to the person. He needs it. The square seems to be an electrical mind that never stops racing, through no fault of the native. If the square has a wider orb, the native is more fortunate because the intensity will be lessened. The Mercury/Uranus squares is one of the hardest aspects in the entire chart. If you have it, know that it is not your fault. You have been given a great challenge. God gave us our charts. God doesn’t make mistakes and God is love.
